We understand that success is not achievable without first giving. Giving Back to Buffalo In October 2023, WINC Buffalo partnered with the Maryvale High School Finance club in their winter clothing drive. Items collected will support refugee students and their families. In Sept 2023, members of WINC Buffalo voluntueered and attended the 2023 SHINE GOLD for Pediatric Cancer fundraiser. The event goal of $100,000 was exceeded by the generosity of the Buffalo community. In 2023, WINC Buffalo partnered with OneHope wine. This Napa Valley wine company gives 10% back of all purchases to charities. Hundreds of dollars was given back to local Buffalo charities including Support for the Psyche, Hope Rises, NAMI, Cradle Beach, Mezzo Allies, Hope Chest, and Buffalo Is Creative. *Pictured is Aimee Stablewski from OneHope wine, and Kait and Laurie from Mezzo Allies at the 5 Degrees to Success networking event. For the September 2023 meeting, members contributed school supplies to fill 6 backpacks for Jewish Family Services of WNY. On July 25, 2023, members of WINC volunteered at the Hope Rises SHINE GOLD Art Night. The kids' artwork will be on display at their Fireworks and Fanfare event on September 27, 2023 in an effort to help them with their $100,000 fundraising goal. At our April 2023 Open Meeting, WINC Buffalo collected for JFS refugees. We estimated the total value of the items donated to be $350. That's $350 that will stay in newly arrived families pockets as they begin rebuilding their lives in Buffalo! In December 2022, when a devastating blizzard hit Buffalo, multiple members stepped up to help the community, including member Jeri Nolan who helped collect supplies like food, water, and diapers for those who were unable to get out of their homes. In October 2022, WINC helped JAM Parkside collect "period pouches" in October 2022 to help end period poverty in Buffalo. Members Alyson Borowczyk and Sydney Schmidt delivered the donations. Our March 2022 meeting was held at WNY Foster Closet, where some of our members were able to donate their time before the meeting began, including Stephanie Kunkle and Kelli Wixon. Many members also donated items that go to children in foster care! Our September 2021 meeting was held at Dress for Success! We heard from Michelle, Executive Director, about how this non-profit has grown, who they help and what she needs to continue the mission. Members including Jaime Peters, Chris Belin and Jeri Nolan helped dress the window mannequins to give them a refreshed look for fall! In September 2021, members (Desirae Currier, Amanda Bernardini and Stephanie Kunkle) helped pack 210 play packs at Victory Sports for kids in need. In 2020, WINC was unable to hold Sip.Shop.Support. because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Members decided to participate in a food drive challenge, along with a local Girl Scout troop. All non-perishable food items were collected at locations around Buffalo and donated to the Buffalo City Mission just before Thanksgiving.
